"No wonder why it was so hard," I realise. "If this town gives you 8 man groups, then I must have missed the first 6-man groups in Berhur."
I missed that until after my first run through Mehtani-freakin'-Keys! I played die-respawn-charge in-kill one bug-die until I finally caught up to the third undead, then I zoned back and noticed the free spots.

...And when I announced what an idiot I'd been to the town at large, I got two PMs saying "I did the same thing!"

Maxiemonster, there's another armoursmith at Blacktide Den.

Hmm, so I guess that's 45 for casters? Sounds good, can't wait to get there!

geez, cry baby...

what I've seen from nightfall: its awesome !!

sry about my rudeness, but I rly don't care anymore about these little kids who bought a new armour and think they shouldn't use some healing skills to keep them alife... omg I got echo mending with me and still die, omg Anet you suck...

At this points the hero system is awesome, scenery is awesome, storyline is nice, quests are good (some very nice ones out there) and btw I love this sunspear titles !!

goodjob anet

So long as the full game doesn't have any of that "must get 10k faction to be friends" nonsense, it doesn't seem too bad at the moment.

I have had trouble with it, but I am only like level 3 . I do hope they 1. Lower the levels, 2. Make them less powerful. i am getting the vibe that since the island is large, by the time you get off it, youll be level 20... just like Factions.

Too many PvEers and role players would probably end up not buying the game if the locked gates were put back in; I being one of them and I don't go with the whole running game. A Big Part of role playing and PvE is exploration and adventure. Factions held our hands through the entire campaign and blocked every possible adventure and exploration possiblity... put simply, locked gates destroyed a huge part of what makes a rpg fun.
If it's to stop runners, there are smart ways of doing that. Merchants wont sell or missions not available till previous quests/missions are complete. This allows people to play as they desire, not imposing false restrictions to ruin game play.

I agree with lyra as well, the pacing is perfect. I also had a similar situation with that 8 man groups as Minus did. I (we) pulled it off with 4 (3 guildies and a hero) but it would have been so much easier as a 8 man group.

As for forced farming; I haven't had to really farm for anything. Just playing through so far has gotten me all I needed for everything I have wanted to get. So far, perfect IMO... and I'm very hard to please... as some of you know. hehe

Whenever I reached a town with new armour I had enough money in my inventory to buy the materials from the trader and upgrade. The pacing was perfect, except for some really tough quests which are very nasty if you don't get the group of 8 level 12 henchmen.

Yeah the pacing is perfect as far as I can see. And frankly the story got me quite interested, unlike factions.
But as to the anti running thing: You can be run to certain cities, but what good does it do you if all the quests are locked because you don't have the right sunspear rank? I suppose you could still get the better armor, or get run through the mission, but for the most part its still a step in the direction of cutting back on runners(which I approve of).

I believe if you reach certain sunspear promotion points you get more and more quests?

I was lvl13 when I completed the preview (it ends where you would leave the starter island). I skipped a few quests so I expect you would usually be a at least a couple lvls higher, but I certainly didnt have any difficult and I'm no expert player. Pacing is just right IMO, the only thing that could ruin nightfall is the stupid locked gates (and my opinion on that has nothing to do with running).
